IN A NUTSHELL
We're on the search for a Senior IT Application Specialist to join our Tech team and become the driving force behind our Bulk™ application portfolio. In this role, you'll bring expert second-line capabilities to the table, covering everything from provision and management to administration, support, monitoring, and enhancement.
In this dynamic position, you'll be responsible for an array of application technologies, including ERP, core financials, WMS, CRM, integrations solutions, eCom, MFP, MM, and manufacturing solutions. Your mission is clear: ensure these applications not only meet but exceed industry best practices and business requirements, delivering top-tier performance, capacity, reliability, resilience, security, maintainability, and recoverability.
Reporting directly to our IT Operations Manager, you'll lead a team of skilled application specialists, driving them to respond swiftly to support incidents, tackle problems, fulfill requests, and supercharge enhancements, all within the agreed SLAs.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Take charge of 2nd line application support, ensuring timely issue resolution in alignment with SLAs, collaborating with internal and external support teams.
- Manage on-premise and cloud-based applications, including ERP (Sage 200 & Netsuite), WMS (Accellos & RF Smart), PLM (Akeneo), CRM (Zendesk), and more, in line with system SLAs.
- Provide guidance and coaching to 1st line Service Desk staff and super users to enhance IT service provision and development.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure consistent service levels in line with industry best practices.
- Participate in after-hours support rotation as needed.
- Create and update technical support documentation and Service Catalogue entries.
- Accurately record user interactions and troubleshooting steps in the ticketing system, maintaining comprehensive support activity records.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to share knowledge, insights, and solutions to improve support efficiency.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses and peripherals to support procurement and asset management processes.
- Establish and maintain change control procedures following ITIL best practices for all application systems.
- Ensure the security of all applications, aligning with industry and vendor best practices.
- Work with IT and business teams to achieve and maintain industry security certifications (e.g., Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001).
- Plan, manage, and execute application upgrade and enhancement projects to meet Bulk's business requirements.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Approximately 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing core business applications and a 2nd line support team in small to medium enterprises, ideally serving 200-500 users.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in a relevant technical field, e.g., Computer Science.
- Proven experience in acquiring and maintaining technical certifications across various application architectures and technologies (e.g., Togaf, CompTIA, BCS, Microsoft, AWS, Google, SQL DBA).
- ITIL Foundation and relevant practitioner certifications, or equivalent experience in structured support environments.
- Experience in obtaining and upholding Cyber Essentials and/or ISO 27001 certifications.
- Proficiency in ITIL-centric environments, including developing and implementing ITIL processes for application lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with working alongside third-party software development teams using Agile methodology.
- Project management experience in line with Prince2 standards.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including executive-level interactions.
- Effective supplier management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities with a methodical troubleshooting approach.
- In-depth knowledge of application architecture and technologies, including Sage, Netsuite, RF Smart WMS, Magento, MFP, PLM, line-of-business applications, and common desktop/SAAS software.
- Self-sufficiency, adept at task prioritization and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in motivating and supervising team members and peers.
- Capability to conduct research on new technology, issues, and products as needed.
- Experience in asset and stock management.
- Strong team player with keen attention to detail.

LOCATION: London (Liverpool Street) or Colchester. If London-based, occasional travel to Colchester will be required.
HYBRID: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home
